Greetings to all club members and a very warm welcome to today’s visitors Central United for the second round clash at Waikaraka.
Today’s game shapes up as an exciting fixture with both teams looking to improve on their respected positions in the table with Central currently in 5th position and Sports sitting in 8th.
Unlike Kiwitea St, Waikaraka Park doesn’t get the treatment it deserves so I
apologise on behalf of the Council for the condition of the pitch. We can only hope it holds up enough to allow an entertaining game of football to be played.
Last week’s game saw us go down 3-1 to Three Kings with a spirited effort from the lads dominating the game but unable to put the ball in the net. Ross Haviland, Alec Wilson and Captain Mitch Healy standing out for sports.
At Onehunga we pride ourselves on squad depth and team environment this is prevalent in the reserve team and it’s no coincident they have been doing
exceptionally well this season. In picking up three points last weekend they are currently top the table with 3 games remaining. With 24 players used so far in the 1st team squad this outlines the importance of a good squad and reserve team so keep up the good work lads.
Once again importance is being place on the team to carry on from the last few weeks and build on the position we are in. So Hard Work, Attitude and Togetherness is vital in the squad to ensure were all one.
I’m confident in our squad and think the table doesn’t reflect the hard work that we have put in over the season. With 4 games remaining we are looking climb the ladder and finish the season on a high.
People are a big part of clubs and sports is no different. It’s positive to see the club and supporters getting in behind the lads. The lads appreciate the support and the long hours that are put in by people behind scenes to make this club successful. A special mention to Rae and the ladies in the kitchen for all your hard work and qualitymeals over the season.
